New Publication by Isabella Banks

We’re excited to announce that DLS member Isabella Banks (PhD Candidate at IViR, University of Amsterdam) has recently published two new open-access papers exploring digital justice and artificial intelligence in judicial decision-making:

  • “Loss of Judicial Sight? The Impact of Assistive AI Technologies on Judicial Perception – Beyond the Question of Discretion” (co-authored with Professor Iris van Domselaar), published in Computer Law & Security Review (Vol. 63, 2026). Available open access here.
  • “Judges-in-the-Loop? Judicial Involvement in Human Oversight of High-Risk Decision Support Systems Under the EU AI Act”, examining Article 14 human oversight duties versus judicial practice. Available open access here.

Both articles offer critical perspectives on the integration of algorithmic systems into the judiciary and procedural fairness under European law.
