colleague <strong>Magdalena Brewczy\u0144ska<\/strong> for the publication of their paper \u2018<em>From the Fight Against Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism the Fight for Fundamental Rights: The Role of Data Protection<\/em>\u2019 in the newest edition of the Data Protection and Privacy Book.<\/p><p>DLS researcher Eleni Kosta (Tilburg University) is a professor in technology, law and human rights. She is working on privacy and data protection, specialising in electronic communications and new technologies, as well as on health law. Magdalena Brewczy\u0144ska is a PhD researcher interested in privacy, data protection and cybersecurity as well as European criminal law and Anti-Money Laundering.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-4dd57554\" data-id=\"4dd57554\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6a559c3a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6a559c3a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In their paper, they explore the application of European Data Protection law to the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) system. It gathers a selection of papers from the conference addressing issues regarding privacy, data protection and AI. The range of topics covered in the book include data protection risks in European retail banks, synthetic data generation as a privacy-preserving technique for the training of machine learning models, the effectiveness of privacy consent dialogues and many more.
